January 4, 2019 - Yosemite National Parks reports a winter storm is forecast this weekend. While we will attempt to keep roads open as long as we safely can, be prepared for road closures and tire chain requirements beginning Saturday, January 5.

Badger Pass Road and Yosemite Ski and Snowboard Area will be closed January 5-6. Call 209/372-0200 (then 1, 1) for current road status within Yosemite National Park.

As a reminder, during the federal government shutdown, Yosemite is open and concessions are operating normally. Most roads normally open in winter remain open, conditions permitting. Many National Park Service facilities are closed. Additionally, Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, Hetch Hetchy, Wawona and Hodgdon Meadow Campgrounds, and all snow play areas are closed due to human waste issues and lack of staffing. The Mariposa Grove and Hetch Hetchy Roads are also closed to all public use.

Park rangers are screening incoming vehicles at South Entrance from 9 am to 6 pm, allowing only those with a reservation for lodging or camping inside the park to proceed. All others will be asked to enter Yosemite via Highway 140.
