January 17, 2019 - Seals are important. No not the creatures. Way back when, letters would sometimes bear seals of the person it came from. The seal would affirm that this letter was from a particular person. A modern example I think would be official letterhead. It would be weird to receive a letter from a Governor and not see any official seal, signature, anything on it that would show that this was from such an office.
In the Christian faith there is a seal and it is one of the three persons of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 reads, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”
Those who seek forgiveness and have faith in Christ are then born again, filled with the Spirit. It is the Spirit that tugs on your heart strings when you see how far you have fallen. He shows you the sin still inside of you Christian and then directs you once again to the Gospel. He reminds you that everything is going to be ok.
Think of this. You have been signed, sealed, and delivered. By the blood of Christ, he has signed for you and bought you for a price. The Father and Christ then send the Spirit as a seal to you. This seal is a guarantee you have been delivered. Signed, sealed, delivered, and God we are yours for through Christ we are forgiven.
