February 12, 2019 - The National Weather Service Hanford Office reports a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Southern Sierra Nevada beginning at 4:00 AM PST Wednesday.
Snow levels should start at around 5,000 feet early Wednesday morning.
Snow levels will quickly rise to 7,000 to 8,000 feet by midday Wednesday, before falling to around 6,000 feet Thursday morning.
The heaviest snow is expected to fall Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.
Strong, gusty winds are likely on exposed ridgetops and near the crest and could cause extensive tree damage.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
