Pastor’s Corner is a weekly column from Pastor Wynter Sturtevant III of the Mariposa Reformed Baptist Church. The church is located in Mariposa, California at 4994 11th Street in the Seventh-day Adventist church building. Services are held at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday.

Pastors Corner 200February 21, 2019 - If anyone tells you that your life is dull, seek a second or third opinion. What seems apparent to me is that life is anything but dull. There might be times of dullness and boredom but life in general could best be described as a roller coaster. You have highs and you have lows. There are so many reactions to this roller coaster ride that it can be very confusing. Speaking from my own context of American Christianity, we have a tendency to mix and match what should be the central gospel message.Elder Wynter Sturtevant

What has been front and center to the Christian faith has been God’s gift of grace, his gift of salvation by faith alone. Ephesians 2:8 reads, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,” This Gospel gift must be heard by those who are at the highest point of their roller coaster and it must be heard by those who are at the lowest low. The message has no room for messages of prosperity and of God wanting you to have that airplane. The Gospel is that Christ died for you. That should humble us. In those moments of deep lows, may you know that those with faith in Christ do profess that in every high and stormy gale, our anchor holds within the veil. Through Christ, who is our solid rock, we are forgiven.
