April 5, 2019 - On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, the community is invited to hear from a unique panel of local residents, all from different countries who have lived under communism or socialism. Some of these people have never shared their story publically, some lost family members or loved ones to brutality and concentration camps or were brutalized themselves.

As Americans, we have enjoyed living in a constitutionally protected republic for 240 years. Most of us have never experienced a fraction of what it means to live in a politically repressive government system such as communism or socialism. These stories will shed light on what it’s really like to live in a government that controls what you say, when you can say it, what you can hear, what you’ll study, where you’ll work, how much money you can make, where you can live, etc.

The free event is planned for 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center of Oakhurst, 39800 Fresno Flats Rd., 425B, Oakhurst, and is sponsored by the Mountain Area Conservative Forum.
