April 8, 2019 - Fans of birds and photography will get a chance to learn tips on the subject at the next Mariposa Photo Club meeting on Wednesday, April 10, at 6:30 P.M. The meeting location is in the conference room at the Mariposa County Human Services Building (5362 Lemee Lane) on Hwy 49N. The meeting is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
Matthew Matthiessen is the guest speaker. He has traveled to several world regions including South America, Africa, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and the Galapagos Islands with friends from the Audubon Society. Local members of Audubon have seen several of his slide shows.
Now Matthiessen will share tips on which gear to use, how to travel on airlines with gear, and how to photograph birds. He will have a slide show depicting some of his favorite shots. Matthiessen is an engaging speaker and is more than willing to answer questions from the audience. This is sure to be an enjoyable experience for everyone.
After the program there will be photo sharing and critiques. Again, this is a positive learning experience for community members interested in learning more about photography.
After photo sharing there will be a brief business meeting. For anyone interested in joining the club, there is a pro-rated membership fee of $12 annually. A cornerstone of the club is photo sharing, demonstrations, workshops and mentoring. If you are new to photography, there are people available to teach the basics of how a camera works and how to take photos.
