April 19, 2019 - WASHINGTON—Will Shafroth, president of the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner to the National Park Service, issued the following statement following adoption of a S.Res. 167, which designates April 20 - April 28, 2019, as National Park Week:

“The National Park Foundation applauds the United States Senate for passing a bipartisan resolution to designate National Park Week. The Foundation commends Senate Energy and Natural Resources’ Subcommittee on National Parks Chairman Steve Daines and Ranking Member Angus King for their leadership in sponsoring S.Res. 167, and thanks its bipartisan cosponsors for their support.

In celebration of National Park Week, the resolution recognizes the incredible breadth and depth of the National Park System and the commitment of the more than 20,000 National Park Service employees who care for these treasured places. As we honor the National Park Service’s steadfast stewardship of America’s iconic landscapes, hallowed ground, and treasured cultural and historical sites during National Park Week, the Foundation joins with Chairman Daines, Ranking Member King, and the measure’s cosponsors to encourage all people of the United States and the world to visit and experience our national parks. The Foundation also invites everyone to find your park with special National Park Week programs and events taking place across the country from April 20 - April 28, and to enjoy free entrance to all national parks on April 20.”
