April 24, 2019 - Caltrans' construction partners are on the verge of completing an emergency rehabilitation project on State Route 140 in the area of the Ferguson Fire scar of Mariposa County.
The construction work causing traffic impact is scheduled to be completed by the end of April 2019 (less than a week away), and boy, have they accomplished a crucial chunk of work the past few months.
Crews have replaced 17 culverts (underground drainage systems) and completed 12 miles of hazardous tree and brush removal as well as rock scaling. Rock scaling refers to working on roadside slopes to help mitigate future mudslides and debris movement.
We would like to thank motorists, including local residents in their private cars, school bus drivers and students, and tourists, for their patience and cooperation during this process.
