April 30, 2019 - Tony Krizan, a local adventurer, author and photographer, has spent more than 30 years hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. On Saturday, May 11, he will share his personal experiences hiking along local area trails in a slide show presentation from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Oakhurst Branch Library’s Community Room, 49044 Civic Circle Dr., Oakhurst.
“Hiking has been a passion of mine ever since I was a teenager growing up in Ohio,” said Krizan who moved to Oakhurst after living in Southern California for 29 years.
“During my working years, I always made time to hike in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. And, writing for the Sierra Star newspaper after moving here helped hone my writing skills so I could share my private hiking moments in our California mountains,” he added.
According to Krizan, his slide show presentation will feature 24 local trails, each of which shares something unique about the “many personalities of our mountain wilderness.” Some of those trails around Oakhurst include Clouds Rest and Yosemite Falls in Yosemite, Liberty Cap, Nevada Falls, Devils Slide, Red Rock Falls and a host of others. Krizan said these “memorable” hikes can vary from one hour to all day.
“This program is a ‘must attend’ for those people who seek the adventure of our surrounding mountains,” he continued.
Krizan said all of his adventures reflect his personal moments with nature and he only shares adventures he has personally experienced. After the presentation, three books Krizan wrote detailing his hiking experiences over the years will be available for purchase.
The free workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library. For more information, call the library at (559) 683-4838 or visit www.oakhurstfobl.com.
