May 1, 2019 - With everything from dolls to chocolates to body parts being made by the process of 3D printing, the knowledge of 3D print design is a valuable skill to have. With that in mind, the Mariposa Library is offering two free workshops in basic design, one for youth ages 8 to 18 on Thursday, May 16 from 3:00 P.M. - 5:30 P.M. and the second for adults 18 and older from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. on Saturday, June 15. Children aged nine and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
During the workshops, participants will create a group project with individualized design elements using a simple CAD program that can be accessed at home. The projects will be printed out for pick up at a later date.
All those who complete the class will be able to use the Library printer for projects in the future. Anyone who does not have a laptop may borrow a Library Chromebook during the class. Chromebooks are also available to Library patrons for checkout.

The 3D printer is available for use by anyone who has taken a prerequisite class at the Library.
These workshops are part of the Library’s Green S.T.E.A.M. Makerspace program, which is supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian. Funding for the 3D printer ventilation system was provided by STI and the Friends of the Mariposa Library.
