Pastors Corner 200

May 1, 2019 - If you have talked to me before, you might know that I love hockey. My team is currently in the playoffs and since they started playing I’ve needed to brush up on certain rules. What determines a cross-check? What leeway do referees have in determining a penalty a major or a minor? The National Hockey League has an ever-expanding rule book that can double as a sleep aid. The rulebook acts as a guiding ruler that tells everyone what a contemporary NHL hockey game looks like.Elder Wynter Sturtevant

The concept of rules is very interesting to me. As human beings, we have a love/hate relationship with them. How many people say that they hate rules and laws but when it comes down to it they have their own rulebook. We live in a world of competing theories of which ruler is the one to rule them all. As Christians, we believe that in God’s Holy Word there is the ruler that all must measure up against. Although many think they might measure up to it I think it is safe to say that if we step back and really look at the Law we’ll find that we, in fact, can never measure up to the whole of the Law. We break it constantly.

Thanks be to God that by Jesus Christ we commandment breakers are saved by the commandment keeper! Christ died for sinners which is good news for us! We sinners can place our faith in Christ knowing that through him our sins are forgiven.
