May 6, 2019 - The Mariposa County Library and Human Services have  gotten together for a new Teaching-Learning-Connecting experience. This is the brainchild of Human Services' counselor Dr. George Catlin. The idea is to bring together people who have something to teach like: pottery, language, philosophy, chainsaw repair, keeping bees, quilting, etc., and to pair them with people who want to learn about each topic.

Once the topics are decided upon, and the classes scheduled, a course catalog will be put online as well as printed. The library webpage will have a place to sign up for classes and will provide space for the classes to be held. There will be no charge for some classes, while a few might have a small fee for materials.

Is there something you’d like to teach or learn? Like: pottery, language, philosophy, chainsaw repair, beekeeping, quilting.

Have an idea for an activity you think others would enjoy? Like: book club, chess club, outings to cultural events, good hikes.

Looking for things to do and ways to connect with like-minded people in Mariposa?

TEACH • LEARN • CONNECT (TLC) is here to provide an easy way to make all that happen.

Our goals are:
  • Publish a quarterly catalog of every free/non-commercial activity in the county.
  •  Encourage people to make new offerings and support them in all the logistics: scheduling, signing up participants, finding an appropriate meeting place, etc.
  •  Get the word out so broadly that everyone knows what is available, and we all start teaching, learning and connecting more actively.

How to participate:

1.       If there’s a course or activity you are already offering or one you would like to create, fill out the simple “Course Proposal” available at the Mariposa Public Library, or online at: MariposaLibrary.org/teach-learn-connect.html.

2.       Keep an eye out for the TLC catalog available around Saturday, June 1, 2019. Then find things you want to do, sign up and show up! Easy.

For more information contact the Mariposa Public Library at (209) 966-2140, or visit MariposaLibrary.org/teach-learn-connect.html.

TLC is a joint project of the Mariposa Public Library and Health and Human Services.
