May 8, 2019 - During the month of April, staff worked with students on the meaning of the core virtue of forgiveness. At a school wide assembly on Friday, May 3, teachers recognized students who exemplified this trait.
Great job to these students: Odin Williams, Ash Castillio-Daniele, Tennessee Blagg, Ares Goodman, Eric Brown, Daniel Specht, Rhu Jones, Brandon Naranjo, Mia Neilson, and Andrayah Collins.
Also at this assembly, TK/K teacher Chelsea Kamins was recognized as the Staff Member of the Month. Mrs. Kamins is known for her incredible patience, gentle approach, positivity, endless work hours, masterful student engagement, organization, and colorful classroom. She is also dedicated to presenting the absolute best educational program for SFCS students.
Throughout the month, students are given tickets when they exhibit behavior that goes beyond what is normally expected. Students place their tickets in jars in their classrooms. When their ticket is picked, they have the option of immediately choosing a prize from the treasure chest in the school office or entering their ticket in a jar for a chance to win the grand prize for the month. Atticus Wu was this month's lucky winner.
After Friday's all-school assembly, staff set up a number of stations with activities for students to choose from and enjoy the last hour of school. As a special treat, Lauren Glikin from Raw Roots Farm brought a variety of produce for students to try. It was a popular station!
Astrid Ardell, Lillan Engstrom, Lily Habeck, and Melody Neimier enjoy talking with Lauren Glikin of Raw Roots Farm and eating strawberries. A game of Gaga Ball is being played in the background.
