Van Leuven is a freelance writer and former editor at Alpinist Magazine. Van Leuven grew up in Marin County, California, before moving to Yosemite at age 18, where he’s lived off and on since 1995.  His story “Going Home,” about the lives and deaths of Yosemite climbers Dean Potter, Sean “Stanley” Leary and Graham Hunt, was featured in Best American Sports Writing 2016.  “Going Home” navigates the motivation of some to push the boundaries of human potential (sometimes at great physical risk), and the ultimate reward or consequences that can follow.

Admission is free for this event.  Please visit the Mariposa Museum on Facebook for event updates. Email mmhc@sti.net or call (209) 966-2924 for more information.

The museum is located at 5119 Jessie St., Mariposa.  Visit the Mariposa Museum website at MariposaMuseum.com.
