May 30, 2019 - Small flows of water are now passing through Lake McClure’s gated spillway into Lake McSwain and throughout the week.
The planned flows are part of normal operations.
Lake McClure has received an overabundance of water supply in 2019, affording the opportunity to operate the spillway gates with minimal amounts of water.
Similar operational flows were passed through the McClure spillway gates in 2017.
The operation of the spillway gates will have no impact on either water supply in Lake McClure or the amount of water planned for release downstream from New Exchequer and McSwain Dams this spring.
MID continues to caution the public from venturing into the Merced River during the snowmelt season.
