June 5, 2019 - Sierra Tel Representative Debbie Peters stopped by the Sierra Foothill Charter School campus during announcements on Wednesday, June 5, to make a special presentation. For fifty-four years, Sierra Tel has sponsored a contest in mathematics among the elementary schools located in the company's serving area in Eastern Madera and Mariposa Counties. The schools involved are Coarsegold, Mountain Home School, Oak Creek Intermediate, Oakhurst Seventh Day Adventist, Raymond Knowles, Rivergold, Wasuma, Mariposa, Sierra Foothill, and Woodland. Sierra Tel believes mathematics is a desirable skill in which to excel, relating as it does to engineering and science. The top two math students from each school compete in the contest, and the winner from each school is awarded a personal trophy. The student receiving the highest score from among all the schools within their county wins the perpetual trophy for his or her school's trophy case. Great job to Sayer Harry, who not only received the Excellence in Mathematics Award as the top math student at SFCS, but also was this year's winner of the Perpetual Trophy.
