June 17, 2019 - Sierra Foothill Charter School held its eighth grade promotion ceremony on Wednesday, June 12.
SFCS 7043Congratulations to these wonderful students who are moving on to high school next year: Wyndham Evans, Celianna Lee, Estrella Hermosillo, Nayo Rhoan, Tadd Sexton, Malachi Shelton, Sayer Harry, William Wall, Daniel Brown, and (not pictured) Gabriel Walters.
SFCS 2568The morning started with the eighth graders leading the flag salute after morning announcements.
SFCS 2571The student body lined up to form a tunnel for the eighth graders to pass through into their classroom. Malachi Shelton gives and receives high fives on his way in.

Students walked in one at a time to the song they had chosen, "Final Countdown" by Europe. They turned and posed briefly before going to their assigned seat on either side of the stage.
SFCS 7010Principal/Superintendent Mindy Bolar welcomed guests and introduced the very poignant slide show put together by third and fourth grade teacher Wendy Baumann. The slide show featured some photos of the students together inside the classroom, around campus, and on field trips, as well as segments focused on each student starting at a young age and progressing through the years. The slide show brought some laughs and tears from the audience. It was very touching.
SFCS 7028Seventh and eighth grade teacher Andrea Contreras said a few words about each student before calling them up to stage, shaking their hands, and giving them their promotion certificates. Students then posed with Principal Bolar and Ms. Contreras for photos, as Wyndham Evans is doing here.

It was a very special ceremony celebrating the achievements of the eighth-grade class and wishing them well on their journey into high school and beyond.
