June 18, 2019 - Bass Lake Ranger District – Roads update. Many of our visitors to the Sierra National Forest have been asking about road conditions on the Bass Lake Ranger District. Here are a few photos that snapshot some of those roads in question.

Because of our long wet and snow filled winter/spring many areas on the forest are delayed in opening due to hazard trees, remaining snow drifts, and muddy road conditions. Forest road and trail crews are working as quickly as possible to reduce the hazards opening roads and trails for the many visitors that enjoy the Sierra National Forest.

Although we have had a great winter with snow and rain continuing through the month of May, the Sierra National Forest trees are still dying from drought and bark beetles. Dead trees are falling unexpectedly across the forest.

• Beware of broken limbs and damaged trees that may fall at any time.
• Use Caution when recreating on the National Forest so you or your vehicle will not be hit if trees fall.
• Look up occasionally while on trails, especially when it’s windy.

The Sierra National Forest will keep you updated as information is received, regarding road, campground and recreational opportunities.

For more information contact one of our forest offices; Bass Lake Ranger District @ 559-877-2218, High Sierra Ranger District @ 559-855-5355, or the Supervisors Office @ 559-297-0706.
