June 19, 2019 - Oakhurst, CA. – Join in on the fun to see who will be crowned “Best Ribs” at the 20th Annual Rib Fest Dinner Event on Saturday, June 22, 2019. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. at the Oakhurst Community Center (located at 39800 Road 425B) and everyone is welcome. Arrive hungry and leave the fancy clothes at home, because this is a night where food, friends, and fundraising take center stage.
The all-you-can-eat barbecue dinner will have over 500 pounds of pork ribs prepared by teams from Elks, Kiwanis, Rotary Club of Oakhurst Sierra and Sunrise Rotary. The competition is fierce to see who will be crowned as having the “Best Ribs” each year! Attendees can look forward to buckets of ribs, famous Soroptimist beans and coleslaw, warm garlic bread, desserts by Mountain Community Women, a no-host bar and more ribs.

There will be raffle and silent auction items that have been generously donated by individuals and businesses in our community! This year there are several prize packages including one for Tenaya Lodge including a hotel stay and breakfast, a 50” TV donated by Dr Robert Brosi DDS and so many more!

The event is a major fundraiser for the organization as the proceeds benefit the local community center projects throughout the year to be available to all of us in the community which includes where people from around the foothills go to vote, play bingo, seek refuge from disasters, have social events and more.
Plans for a community center in Oakhurst were conceived in the early 1960’s when members of the mountain area felt the need for a place where the area citizens could gather for dinners, meetings, and other social activities. The land for the Center was generously donated by a long-time area resident, and the Center, finished in 1965, was built primarily with volunteer labor and donated materials. The Center continues to operate with a volunteer Board of Directors made up mostly of members of community-based organizations and service clubs.
