CmasinCtvle14aWhat’s a little rain…especially when it’s needed so badly?!  It certainly didn’t stop Santa or any of his helpers nor did it stop the many families and individuals who came into town to enjoy a thoroughly fun, if a tad damp, day!

The Rebekah breakfast was the perfect place to get your first carb fix for the day, as in addition to the great pancakes and sides served every month of the third Saturday morning, everyone received a generously large fresh made, yummy holiday cookie! Just the thing to tide folks over until the CCC Holiday Midday Dinner.
CmasinCtvle14bSanta Clause arrived a few minutes late, possibly due to the stormy weather encountered on his journey from the North Pole, but was escorted into town in style, riding once again atop Coulterville’s trust antique fire engine that lives at the museum the rest of the year.  His escort included several other, more modern, and certainly more noisy, local emergency vehicles along with the Don Pedro Panther Cheer team leading the way.  And what’s a little sprinkle while waiting in line to see Santa and Mrs. Clause?  Of course the cookies helped as did that mound of toys Santa and his assistants (the Panthers Cheer team) gave to each and every boy and girl who sat on his lap.

A big THANK YOU to all the many volunteers and the various organizations who worked this year to once again make Christmas in Coulterville such a big success!  Not only were there plenty of toys for all of the children at the fire station but there was also plenty of food for everyone who stopped by the Old Schoolhouse.  Hams, turkeys, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, veggies, freshmade bread and rolls and freshmade cranberry sauce were topped off with an amazing array of desserts!
CmasinCtvle14cMike Kambeitz, the CCC president noted that “this year the CCC had an incredible amount of support.  Food flowed into the schoolhouse all morning long.  I want to particularly thank Cheryl Shores who coordinated all of the food and decorations, Paul Franke who once again took charge of the kitchen and ran it smoothly and effectively and Leslie Farrow who personally committed to garnering and cooking sweet potatoes for 400 and did just that!   There’s simply not enough room to list the many, many volunteers who helped setup, serve and clean up after this big event.

But I do want to thank the 4-H’s that helped for the third year in a row. It certainly makes it a great deal easier on the older generation! “

Thanks to Santa and Mrs. Clause for spending a few hours in our little town and also a big thank you to the Gold Country Singers whose performance really added to the day…as did those carbs in all the wonderful goodies they served after the performance!
