July 7, 2019 -The Madera County Sheriff's Office reports Robert Eugene Moye Jr. is currently in custody at the Madera County Department of Corrections for first degree murder following a fatal shooting last night in North Fork.
On July 6, 2019 the Madera County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call around 9:23 PM regarding a family disturbance in the 33000 block of Mission Drive in North Fork. As MCSO Deputies were enroute, we received an update of multiple shots fired and at least one person being shot. Deputy Matthew Autry arrived on scene as the victim’s family was loading them into a private vehicle for transport to a hospital. The two surviving non-injured victims verbally identified the shooter to Deputy Autry, and were able to describe the location they saw him retreat to.
Deputy Autry performed a search of the area and quickly located the subject in a wooded area near the victim’s residence. The suspect was contacted and detained without incident. Robert Eugene Moye Jr., a 46 year old North Fork resident, was taken into custody and booked at Madera DOC for first degree murder.
While executing a search warrant at Moye’s residence, Madera County Sheriff’s Detectives located an active marijuana grow and butane oil lab. Narcotics agents are responding to the scene to continue the investigation. Additional felony charges related to the drug recovery may be pending.
Sadly, despite efforts by EMS, the victim succumbed to their wounds prior to transport. The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. This investigation remains ongoing. If anyone has information relating this case, please contact Madera County Sheriff’s Detectives at (559) 675-7770.
