Before we begin, I want to let everyone know that Mariposa Reformed Baptist Church has moved locations. We will now be having our services at the Bootjack Stompers Hall (located at 4662 Morman Bar Crossing) which is across from the Mariposa County Fairgrounds.
Time of service is still 10:00 A.M. on Sunday.
Tired. I caught myself this weekend saying out loud how tired I was. No one was in the room or even in the same building, so I’ll leave it up to you to figure out why I was speaking at all. As a pastor, a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I see some tired faces. Faces belonging to folks who are exhausted from whatever the week has brought upon them. Rest is only a luxury and dream for some of our neighbors and family. I know that I am part of the group that becomes restless when we actually try to rest.
Lord knows we all need rest and ultimately, we need to rest not on something of our own design. Folks, the rest that we must lean on and we can find comfort in is the unchanging grace of the Triune God. Matthew 11:29 reads, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” All the people I see who are tired (and those lucky few who are not) are in need of hearing the Gospel of Amazing Grace. Every Sunday, Mariposa Reformed Baptist Church has a service that has at its center Christ who paid it all. I preach and remind folks that we rest on his unchanging grace. I remind them that in every high and stormy gale our anchor holds within the veil. As a pastor, I tell them that Christ came to die for we sinners and through him, we are forgiven. Now rest on Christ.
