August 24, 2019 - Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) has lent its support to recently-amended Senate Bill 295, authored by Senator Mike McGuire (D-Sonoma).  SB 295 rcrc logo

creates a personal state tax credit scheme to off-set costs of home hardening and vegetation management for homeowners.

SB 295 is a helpful step in promoting home hardening and vegetation management practices for those residing in wildfire-risk areas.  RCRC believes tax incentives to qualified property owners will further encourage homeowners in these wildfire-risk areas to mitigate their risks.

RCRC’s support letter can be accessed here.  SB 295 is set to be heard in the Assembly Revenue & Taxation Committee on Monday, August 26, 2019.

In June, the RCRC Board of Directors approved the creation of the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Homeowner’s Insurance (Committee) to review issues surrounding the availability and affordability of homeowners insurance coverage in rural areas.  The Committee will report its findings back to the RCRC Board of Directors by August 2020.

For more information, Paul A. Smith, Vice President Governmental Affairs, can be reached at (916) 447-4806 or psmith@rcrcnet.org.
