NMCHC Community Breakfast on Sunday, September 8th
August 26, 2019 - Enjoy pancakes and eggs at the Old School House in Historic Coulterville, located at the corner of Broadway and Cemetery Streets on Sunday, September 8th from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.  A great value with a generous serving of eggs cooked the way you like ‘em, ham or sausage, “all-you-can-eat” pancakes, fresh fruit and beverage for only $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children or a family “package” for $15.00 (2 adults & 2 children). You are helping fund Coulterville’s museum at the same time as this is a fundraising event!

The NMCHC was established as a 501c3 charitable organization in 1976 with the History Center opening to the public in 1980.  Visited by thousands each year, including international travelers from around the world, the various displays and photos provide an authentic glimpse of the life and times of the pioneers who helped settle the area in the early 1800’s and those who traveled west during the 1849 California goldrush.  Memberships and volunteer opportunities are available, including helping serve breakfast occasionally!  Call (209) 878-3015 for more information or check out our website at: CoultervilleHistoryCenter.org.

Northern Mariposa County History Center News
Thinking of becoming a museum docent?  Now is the perfect time to sign up, as there will be a Docent training program on Tuesday, September 17th.  The focus will be the history behind the various displays, so that docents can better inform visitors of the significance of each of them.  New docents are paired with “old-timers” so that it’s easy to learn “the ropes.”  Just call the museum, (209) 878-3015, and leave your contact information and one of the co-chairs will get in touch with you.

NMCHC Bidding Sharon Coolidge Adieu
While the NMCHC is volunteer run, there are a number of professional services that are essential; including security, computer tech support, and the maintaining of the nonprofit organization’s books and financial records.  Sharon Coolidge has provided these latter services for the past six years.  She has recently decided to focus on other types of projects in the fall.

The board of the NMCHC is sorry to see her go as she has done a terrific and diligent job and wants to thank her for services.  A search committee has been formed and is seeking another small businessperson/bookkeeping service to take her place (please refer to ad in this edition).  If you know anyone who runs this type of business, please refer them to the History Center.  They can call (209) 878-3750 and leave their contact information.  Interviews are being conducted now with the goal being to have someone lined up by late September.

The History Center opened to the public in 1980.  Visitors from all over the world come to see various displays that provide an authentic glimpse of the life and times of the pioneers who helped settle the area in the early 1800’s and those who traveled west during the 1849 California gold rush.

Memberships and volunteer opportunities are available. Be sure to stop by and say “howdy”!  The museum is open Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.  Admission is free, although donations are always appreciated.
