September 14, 2019 - Two beginning sewing classes for ages eight and older will be held at the Library from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 19 and Thursday, October 10.  The first will cover choosing and reading a pattern, selecting appropriate fabric, laying out the pattern and cutting.  During the second class, participants will learn how to put the pieces together, including basting and machine sewing.

The classes are free.  Some sewing machines are available, or attendees may bring their own.  A few machines are also available for check-out by Mariposa Library card holders who have been trained on their use.

On Saturday, September 21, Aubrey Simpson will bring her kiln and dichroic glass pieces to help people aged seven and older make a colorful pendant.  This is a first-come, first-served program that will take place between 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 noon.  Some waiting is involved while the piece are fired in the kiln, a perfect time to find a good book or movie to check out or read out loud to children.  No registration is required.
