September 17, 2019 - Washington - Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) yesterday released the following statement on reports that new allegations were reported to the FBI last year about Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“In October 2018, Senator Coons sent a letter to FBI Director Wray regarding allegations against Brett Kavanaugh. I was copied on that letter, which asked the FBI to speak with an individual regarding ‘information relevant to Ramirez’s allegations.’ No additional information was provided.

“In addition to the letter sent by Senator Coons, Judiciary Committee Democrats sent a separate letter to the FBI asking it to interview more than two dozen individuals related to multiple allegations made against Brett Kavanaugh.

“The FBI could have conducted an investigation that would have been seen as objective by both sides. Unfortunately it’s now clear the FBI largely ignored these requests because the scope of its investigation was so constrained by the White House and Senate Republicans. It’s unfortunate the FBI wasn’t allowed to do its job.”
