October 1, 2019 - Mariposa County District IV Supervisor Kevin Cann today announced he will not be seeking a fourth term. Kevin’s current term will end in January 2021.

Kevin said “It has been a great honor serving the good folks of Mariposa County as Supervisor since January 2009.There will be plenty of time to talk about accomplishments and future challenges. The county projects which are coming to fruition over the next year will be monumental in setting the stage for a prosperous future. Housing, upscale hotels, conference capability, and rebuilding of downtown streets and parking lots are all now becoming reality not just dreams.”

“I will continue to work as hard as ever on local economic development, homeless and housing issues,  statewide forest health, homeowner’s fire insurance and other critical projects.”

Cann concluded “During the past few weeks I have spoken with some outstanding community leaders who have wanted to run for supervisor but previously deferred to my incumbency, particularly my good friend Wayne Forsythe. After three terms I feel it is the right time to allow an open competition to elect a new District IV Supervisor to help guide Mariposa County to the next level.”
