supervisors from around the State in proper techniques to plan and conduct complex firing operations during wildland fire suppression operations. Students will be taught how to apply fire to fight fire. They will learn the proper techniques to ignite and control fire that is lit outside the perimeter of an approaching wildland fire. This technique is utilized to starve the wildfire of available vegetation, thus aiding in suppression efforts. The live fire training will also aid the rangeland by burning Medaushead a noxious weed.
The training will occur at the Crook Ranch near Ferretti Road in Groveland. Smoke may be visible in Groveland and Big Oak Flat area.
The three-day live fire training will commence at 10 AM, Tuesday October 8th and conclude Thursday the 10th. Live burns will be conducted from 1000 hours until 1700 each day. Resources utilized to conduct the training will consist of six fire engines and two fire crews, and one Bulldozer. If conditions are conducive, approximately 120 acres of grass and oak understroy will be burned.
