Per Mariposa County Schools: A message from the Mariposa Unified School District Transportation Department: Currently Hwy 140 East is closed in both directions from Briceburg to Incline Road. This will impact transportation services to and from El Portal Elementary and Yosemite Valley, these are bus routes 6 and 10. If possible, please find alternate transportation for your student. All schools are open and on regular bell schedules.

CAL FIRE reports 5% Containment and 45 acres

Update: 10:34 P.M. Per Mariposa County Sheriff's Office: 

Hwy 140 remains closed from 15 miles East of Mariposa at the Yosemite Bug Hostel to the Cedar Lodge Hotel in El Portal. There is currently no estimated time of re-opening.

A Fire Advisement has been issued for the following areas:

Both sides of Hwy 140 from the Octagon to Buffalo Gulch Rd including Buffalo Gulch Rd.

This is a Fire Advisement only, to inform you of a fire in the area. Should conditions change you may be asked to evacuate immediately.

At this time no Red Cross Shelter has been established.

Update 9:10pm- Updated video with latest video and pictures from Sheriff’s Office Staff in the area.

All advisories and road closures remain in effect.

Lots of fire equipment in and around the forest area as CALFIRE works on dozer line and fuel breaks. Please stay out of the fire area and away from access roads leading to the fire.

Update 8:00pm
The fire has spotted over bear creek and is burning on both sides of the Briceburg Grade Canyon. The Fire Advisements for Rancheria Creek Rd and Rumley Mine Rd remain in effect. No additional Fire Advisements or Mandatory Evacuations have been issued.

Update: 3:40pm
A Fire Advisement has been issued for Rancheria Creek Rd and Rumley Mine Rd. This is NOT a Mandatory Evacuation Order. A Fire Advisement is issued to alert residence of a fire in the area and the potential for an evacuation should conditions change.

Hwy140 remains closed in both directions from The Bug Hostel to Savages Trading Post.

Update 2:50- Hwy 140 is closed from the bug hostel area to a few miles east of Briceburg. Please avoid the area.

Currently no evacuations or advisories have been issued.

Please watch for emergency traffic responding to the area.

CAL FIRE reports the fire at 20 Acres.

Update: 4:00 P.M. Scanner reports making good progress on the fire.
PG&E reports no Power Outages.

October 6, 2019 - The CHP reports at about 2:30 P.M. a fire was reported near the 140 and Briceburg in Mariposa County.

The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office reports a fire advisement has been issued for the Rancheria Creek Rd. and Rumley Mine Rd.

This is not an evacuation order, please be prepared to evacuate should conditions change.
