Mariposa County is one of 32 currently affected counties expected to receive high wind gusts with high fire danger.
Currently Pacific Gas and Electric estimates 1,800 customers in
Mariposa County could be affected by the shutoff. These areas include: The Community of Greeley Hill, The Lake Don Pedro Subdivision & Granite Springs. To see if you are in the affected area go to PGE.com. Please be advised the PG&E website and crashed multiple times today, so you may have to try at a later time.
The Sheriff’s Office is always ready for emergencies. Public Safety is always our primary concern. We will have extra patrols in the affected areas. Beginning at 8am on Wednesday October 9th the Sheriff’s Office will have our sub stations located at 10549 Fiske Rd in Greeley Hill and 9729 Merced Falls Rd La Grange manned during the duration of the PSPS event. Landline phones in these areas can be unstable at times. In case of an emergency residents in the affected areas can drive to those stations.
Outages are expected to begin on Wednesday October 9th .There is the potential for the outage to last several days due to power restoration processes. We recommend all Mariposa County residents residing in the affected areas prepare for multiple days without power. This would include alternate power sources, lights, chargers, batteries and other necessities like food, water and warmth. Life threatening emergencies and fires should be immediately reported to 911.
