October 10th YGP Autumn Quarterly Meeting in Yosemite is Now Cancelled

October 8, 2019 - With great regret, we've had to cancel our Autumn Yosemite Gateway Partners meeting in Yosemite due to the effects of the Briceburg Fire, which is now at 2,000 acres, with 10% contained.

YGPIf you have paid for your lunch, you will receive a full refund via the method you originally used to pay. If you sent in a check, your check will be returned to you. Please be patient - with our apologies, and due to impending electric outages, we may not be able to begin processing refunds until next week.

Here's important information for North County residents of Mariposa and conjoined areas in Tuolumne County from the Mariposa County Sheriff Alert System - and I've included the map of the affected area below:

Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) For Mariposa County

The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office has activated our Emergency Operation Center in Mariposa, CA to monitor the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) and Fire Threat.

Mariposa County is one of 32 currently affected counties expected to receive high wind gusts with high fire danger.

Currently Pacific Gas and Electric estimates 1,800 customers in Mariposa County could be affected by the shutoff. These areas include: The Community of Greeley Hill, The Lake Don Pedro Subdivision & Granite Springs. To see if you are in the affected area go to PGE.com. Please be advised the PG&E website and crashed multiple times today, so you may have to try at a later time.

The Sheriff’s Office is always ready for emergencies. Public Safety is always our primary concern. We will have extra patrols in the affected areas. Beginning at 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 9th the Sheriff’s Office will have our sub stations located at 10549 Fiske Rd in Greeley Hill and 9729 Merced Falls Rd. La Grange manned during the duration of the PSPS event. Landline phones in these areas can be unstable at times. In case of an emergency residents in the affected areas can drive to those stations.

Outages are expected to begin on Wednesday, October 9th. There is the potential for the outage to last several days due to power restoration processes. We recommend all Mariposa County residents residing in the affected areas prepare for multiple days without power. This would include alternate power sources, lights, chargers, batteries and other necessities like food, water and warmth. Life threatening emergencies and fires should be immediately reported to 911.

We are asking residents to register with www.msoalert.com to receive important notifications from the Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you for your patience. If you have not already done so, I would encourage you to read about - and register to attend our October 23rd - 24th Transportation and Housing Summit - information is available at: www.yosemitegatewaypartners.org/get-involved/ygp-summit.

Sincerely - and with appreciation for your patience,

Les Marsden,
President - Yosemite Gateway Partners
