Free Training for iPhone Users

October 8, 2019 - If you’re having difficulty hearing or seeing on your iPhone, a representative from California Phones will be available at the Oakhurst Branch Library on Saturday, October 26, 2019, to walk iPhone owners through the basic functions of their Smartphone.

Robert “Skippy” Sumner, an outreach specialist for the Deaf & Disabled Telecommunications Program of the California Telephone Access Program, said people must bring their own Smartphone to the workshop.

Sumner said he will be assisting Lydia Santillan, a California Telephone Access Program lead trainer, at the workshop.

In the class, Sumner said participants will learn how to make their iPhone louder and easier to hear, send text messages, turn their iPhone into a magnifier, connect Bluetooth devices, and operate the basic function of their iPhone and more.

“The class is for anyone who has an iPhone Smartphone and does not know how to use it,” Sumner explained.

This event is for iPhones only. Space in the class is limited to 12 people who are encouraged to sign up for the training now by calling the library at (559) 683-4838. Sumner is also requesting that participants arrive at the library by 10:00 A.M. that morning to register for the two-hour class that begins at 10:30 A.M.

To see if your Smartphone model is supported, Sumner said people can call him at California Phones at (559) 478-2755, (559) 449-1758 TTY or (559) 449-0103 fax.

The free workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library. For more information, call the library number above or visit www.oakhurstfobl.com.
