October 22, 2019 - Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) last week called on banks, grocery stores and other sellers of the Breast Cancer Research Stamp to increase efforts to Breast Cancer Research Stamppromote its sale in their stores.

The stamp is sold for 65 cents, with 10 cents of each sale going to fund breast cancer research and treatment. Since 1998, the stamp has raised nearly $90 million.

“In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I encourage you to implement a promotional campaign in all your stores to advertise and increase sales of the Breast Cancer Research Stamp,” Senator Feinstein wrote.

Senator Feinstein continued: “Since its creation in 1998, over one billion Breast Cancer Research Stamps have been sold, and the stamp has raised nearly $90 million for breast cancer research.  Life-saving research funded by revenue from stamp stales has contributed to major improvements in our understanding of breast cancer.”

Dear Mr. Parker,

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I encourage you to implement a promotional campaign in all your stores to advertise and increase sales of the Breast Cancer Research Stamp.

Since its creation in 1998, over one billion Breast Cancer Research Stamps have been sold, and the stamp has raised nearly $90 million for breast cancer research.  Life-saving research funded by revenue from stamp stales has contributed to major improvements in our understanding of breast cancer.  For example, a recent study funded by stamp sales found that women with a certain form of early-stage breast cancer can safely skip chemotherapy without hurting their chances of beating the disease.  This finding is expected to spare up to 70,000 U.S. patients a year from the cost and side effects associated with this type of treatment.

Having the Breast Cancer Research Stamp readily available in your stores and launching a promotional campaign to spread awareness would send a powerful message to your customers and make a big difference in the lives of countless patients.

Thank you for your consideration.  Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
