October 25, 2019 - The Mariposa County High School Academic Boosters Club is hosting a fundraising party at the Gold Coin on Friday, November 1, 2019 the day after Halloween and before Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. All community members over the age of 21 are invited to attend.

“Guests are welcome to dress for Halloween or Dia de los Muertos,” said ABC Board President Jill Harry. “Or, people are welcome to come as they are. It’s going to be a fun party. We encourage everyone to join us.”

Gold Coin will be serving a delicious intercontinental buffet dinner, including Mexican chili verde, tortillas, refried beans, and Spanish rice; Italian stuffed shells and garlic bread; and American pulled pork sliders and fresh french fries. There will also be plenty of veggies, fruit, and dessert.

The no host bar will include a special theme-based drink.

DJs Jon-Paul Salonen and Erik Westerlund are working on music lists to keep those who want to dance doing just that. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a serial monopoly game, corn hole, and a variety of other entertaining games.

The silent  auction is one not to be missed. Attendees will have the chance to own a piece of history. MCHS is giving ABC six of the original ceiling tiles from Fiester Auditorium. The tiles aren’t perfect (they were replaced for a reason), but they are all very special and over 100 years old. There will be many other fantastic auction items including an original Penny Otwell multimedia piece, a three-night stay at Cedar Creek courtesy of Concierge Real Estate, beautiful earrings from Italian Creek Designs, a gift basket from Sierra Sister Designs, and much more. Come and place your bids!

(Pictured): Local artist Saralynn Nusbaum created these beautiful earrings that will also be part of the ABC silent auction at the Gold Coin on November 1. Other auction items include: one month gift certificates to both Jazzercise and Yogasemite yoga studio, $50 gift certificate to Blue Oak Ayurveda, a gift basket from Sierra Sister Designs, plus items from the Yosemite Bug Mountain Resort & Spa, Ace Hardware, Pony Expresso, The Alley, and a three night stay at Cedar Creek between Jan and March. Get your event tickets at the Gold Coin, the Visitors Center, or Pony Expresso. They are $40 now, $45 at the door and include dinner.

To add to the fun, ABC is making arrangements for face painting. For $20, attendees can get a portion of a Dia de los Muertos mask painted onto their faces - perhaps a decorative eye or mouth for instance.

Want to join in, but can’t leave your young children alone? The Mariposa Martial Arts Academy has arranged a Parents Night Out the evening of the event. Kids can have fun at MMAA while parents enjoy the party. Send MMAA a private message via Facebook or call (209) 205-4541 for details.

Mariposa Elementary School is having its middle school dance the same night as ABC’s fundraising event. Students from participating schools will bring home information. Those with qualifying students who like to dance will be able to drop off their middle schoolers at MES and then join the party nearby at the Gold Coin.

Tickets for ABC’s party at the Gold Coin are $40 if purchased in advance from the Gold Coin, the Visitors’ Center, or Pony Expresso, or $45 if purchased at the door the night of the event.

Go to the Facebook event page at http://bit.ly/GoldCoinABC for more details, including information on all the silent auction items.

This is a party you won't want to miss, and it supports a great cause!
