October 29, 2019 - Fresno – Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) issued the following statement regarding the PG&E catastrophe in California:
“Decades of neglect and mismanagement by PG&E have endangered the livelihood of millions of Californians,” said Senator Borgeas. “The Governor’s call for $75 million is a step in the right direction, but we must do everything in our power to protect our public safety, vulnerable populations, and critical infrastructure.”
“This issue should undoubtedly supersede all others as the Governor and Legislature come up with solutions to protect California. We cannot allow this to be the new normal and watch as Californians are forced to choose between going without power or facing catastrophic fires. PG&E is ‘too big to fail,’ but has shown us that they are no longer fit to be stewards of energy and safety for the countless citizens of their immense territory.”
