November 4, 2019 - The MCHS Academic Boosters Club (ABC) was happy to fund History teacher Stephanie Bobman's grant request to take her 48 College and Career Access Pathways US History students on a field trip to the Mariposa Museum and History Center last week. Stephanie Bobman's junior history students recently enjoyed a field trip to the Mariposa Museum and History Center.

The field trip supplemented students' early American history studies, providing local and meaningful context to students and allowing for hands-on learning. The museum organized a special tour for students that included several exhibits and demonstrations. In addition, each student was able to try gold panning and keep their findings.

Local history is important in helping to form not only an academic connection to history, but also an emotional one.Understanding how their town and those who occupy it have participated in and influenced history over time helps students to have a more meaningful understanding of the significance of history, and of their own potential role.

MCHS Academic Boosters Club, Inc. (ABC) is a 501(c)3 organization with the mission of supplementing and enriching academic experiences and providing educational tools for Mariposa County High School students.
