NMCHC Community Breakfast on Sunday, December 8th
November 16, 2019 - Get up, get out and start a day of holiday fun and shopping with breakfast at the Coulterville Schoolhouse.  A generous serving of eggs, ham or sausage, “all-you-can-eat” pancakes, fresh fruit and beverage is only $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children or a family “package” for $15.00 (2 adults & 2 children).  There’s ample parking at the Old School House in Historic Coulterville, located at the corner of Broadway and Cemetery Streets.  So, come on down and enjoy a hearty meal from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, December 8th.

The community breakfasts are an important fund raiser for the Northern Mariposa County History Center, helping to cover normal operations.  It also is a wonderful time to run into friends and acquaintances and get to know new folks who have recently joined our community or are perhaps visiting for the first time.

After breakfast, check out the shops in town filled with great holiday gift items.  In addition to Fielding’s Trading Post, Coyote Consignments, and Sierra Flowers (with Made in Mariposa gift items) there are now two new shops in town, the Village Mercantile that opened in November and the Foothills Emporium that announced it would be opening December 1st!  The Mercantile has both nifty edible and non-edibles that make perfect stocking stuffers.  Finish the day with a trip to the museum as it will be closing January 1st for a refurbishment, with a number of displays disappearing in order to make way for new ones come February’s annual Re-opening and Gala.
Coulterville BreakfastNorthern Mariposa County History Center Sends Out a Call for Volunteers
Volunteers are vital for everything the NMCHC does.  Central to its mission is keeping the doors of the museum open regularly every Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, with volunteers comprising 100% of the staffing needed to do this.  We ask each volunteer docent to commit to just 3 hrs a month.  Recently a few of our wonderful volunteers have either moved away or had to turn their attention to other matters, so that we really need a few new folks to step up.  It is a great way to both support your community and meet people visiting from all over the world.  Call (209) 878-3015 and leave a message indicting you would like to become a Docent, along with your contact information.

The NMCHC was established as a 501c3 charitable organization in 1976 with the History Center opening to the public in 1980.  Visited by thousands each year, including international travelers from around the world, the various displays and photos provide an authentic glimpse of the life and times of the pioneers who helped settle the area in the early 1800’s and those who traveled west during the 1849 California gold rush.

Memberships and volunteer opportunities of all kinds, to fit all sorts of interests, are available.  Call (209) 878-3015 for more information or check out our website at: CoultervilleHistoryCenter.org.
