December 27, 2019 - Madera, CA.— “Over a hundred million dollars in property tax payments were collected and posted from the December 10th property tax deadline," said Tracy Kennedy tracy kennedyMadera County Treasurer-Tax Collector.

Madera County Treasurer-Tax Collector, Tracy Kennedy is pleased to report that all payments were posted and balanced by Friday December 13th, 2019. “Our collections were up, and our lines were a bit shorter. Reports Kennedy. This was due in part to the updated due dates printed on this year’s tax bills. “I am very grateful to have a team that strives to raise the bar with each tax season. The fact that they post and balance over 37,000 payments in such a short period of time is remarkable," said Kennedy.

The sooner that property tax payments are posted and balanced, the sooner the funds can be apportioned to our local school districts and cities (Madera and Chowchilla). The bulk of property payments received are through mail, which is about 37% of tax payments collected for the first installment payment period. Another 49% are paid through their mortgage company, and the remaining payments are paid with credit cards, E-checks, online bank checks, or in office counter transactions. “This collection period, we received over $6 million in E-check payments which is nearly double the amount of E-check payments we collected this time last year. This is a considerable increase of which I am very proud of.” Says Kennedy. “Our office has been working diligently to promote our E-checks because they are easy to use, they post in real time, and they are FREE to the taxpayer!”

Taxpayers may have also noticed an additional option to pay their taxes online via the Tax Collector’s web page. They can now view and print their property tax bill from an interactive Geographic Information System Map. Simply go to www.madera-county.com/treasurer, select “View My Property Taxes”, and enter the associated parcel number or property address. Taxpayers can also verify and/or view that their payments were posted to their account on the Tax Collector’s website: www.maderacounty.com/treasurer. Just log in and follow the prompts for “Paying your taxes” and your entire tax bill will be revealed together with your payment information.
