January 4, 2020 - The following is a statement from Mark Ghilarducci, the director of the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and the Homeland Security Advisor to Gov. Gavin Newsom. cal oes logoDirector Ghilarducci oversees statewide public safety, emergency management, counter-terrorism efforts.

“While there are currently no specific threats against our state as a result of the events in the Middle East, Cal OES continues to monitor the situation and work closely with our state, local and federal partners to ensure the safety of all Californians.

Cal OES maintains strong relationships with our security and intelligence partners around the country and the world and is continually monitoring for possible emerging threats to the state. At the same time, the California Cybersecurity Integration Center is working closely with its partner networks to prevent, protect against and mitigate possible cyber-attacks.

While we understand that the unfolding events overseas can create a sense of unease, Californians should rest assured that, as always, the state is working non-stop to assess and manage all risks to the people of state, our resources and our critical infrastructure.

We encourage all Californians to remain vigilant and if you ‘see something, say something’ by reporting suspicious activity to local law enforcement.”
