January 6, 2020 - The long nights of winter provide new opportunities for low light and long exposure photographs and the topic will be explained at the next Mariposa Photo Club meeting on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. The public is invited to attend this free program.

Noted professional photographer Denice Loria Woyski will headline the evening and show simple techniques so all levels of photographers can learn how to do this and achieve success.

Woyski, who is now semi-retired, is a professional portrait and wedding photographer, and a former scientist/chemist.  Since moving to Mariposa over five years ago, she has been changing the focus of her photography from people and events to places and things.  “Letting go of fast shutter speeds and sharp images of the bride and groom and learning how to use long-exposure photography to create artistic, soft, and surprising images has been a fun and interesting journey,” says Woyski.

People are also encouraged to bring their cameras to meetings as there will be short educational moments each month focusing on a camera function.

The Mariposa Photo Club started 24 years ago and offers a place for photo enthusiasts to share photos, receive friendly critiques, and learn new techniques. This is a place to ask your questions about your cameras and meet other photography buffs. The club also helps the Mariposa County Fair each year by providing the mounting boards for fair photography entries.

Come on out Wednesday, January 8 at 6:30 P.M. The location is the meeting room at the Mariposa County Human Services Building at 5362 Lemee Lane, off of Hwy 49S.

While guests are invited any time, memberships are also available for a nominal fee. More information about the club can be seen at MariposaPhotoClub.com.
