January 9, 2020 - A new decade is here and by the end of it there should be a new hospital. Matthew Matthiessen, Fremont Healthcare District CEO, will provide an update on that possibility at the next Mariposa Democratic Club meeting on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 9:30 A.M. in the meeting room at the Miners Roadhouse.

The task will be monumental as current estimates put the cost at $70 million and they could easily go to $90 million by the end of the decade. At this point there is a conceptual plan for where the facility could be located, and an architect and project manager have been selected. But much work needs to be done before a shovel is put in the ground, beginning with figuring out how to pay for the project.

Matthiessen will talk about the work of the healthcare district and hopes for the future and take any questions from the audience.

This meeting is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend to hear this important presentation. It is also time for club members to renew their annual memberships and forms will be available from the club treasurer.

This is expected to be an exciting year with a primary in March and general election in November. There will be many interesting topics to cover in future months and plenty of time for great discussions.
