January 10, 2020 - SACRAMENTO – California Attorney General Xavier Becerra on Thursday issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s announcement of its proposed rule dismantling the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA):

“NEPA has long stood as the cornerstone of our national environmental policy. Undermining NEPA and the transparency it provides puts our nation at risk and pushes our environmental goals further out of reach,” said Attorney General Becerra. “With the Trump Administration’s proposal, we can expect more environmental destruction, more natural disasters, and an acceleration of climate change. We’ll remind President Trump again: if you try to backslide on the safeguards protecting our nation’s environment and put polluters in the driver’s seat, we will hold you accountable.”
