January 13, 2020 - On Thursday, January 9, a panel of former Peace Corps participants spoke to Mariposa County High School students as part of the MCHS Academic Boosters Club's monthly Career Lunch program. Stephanie Evans gave an overview of the Peace Corps in general and spoke about her time in Mongolia. She was followed by Colin Ritter who recently returned from Panama, Sally Martinez who spent three years in Ethiopia, Dr. Charles Mosher who went to Paraguay following medical school and Dr. Jonathan Harry who served in Kenya. While listening to presenters, students enjoyed a delicious lunch from High Country Cafe thanks to the generosity of an Anonymous Donor. One lucky student won a $10 gift certificate to Pizza Factory in this month’s drawing.
ABC 1601Stephanie Evans gave some background information to students on what the Peace Corps is all about and spoke about her time in Mongolia where she taught English and was a new Peace Corps volunteers trainer.
ABC 1603Colin Ritter, a 2010 MCHS graduate recently returned from Panama. He spoke about his time there as a sustainable agriculture volunteer.
ABC 1607Dr. Jonathan Harry spoke about his time serving in Kenya where he researched and treated malaria.
ABC 1608Heather Livingston was this month's winner of a $10 gift card from a local eatery.
