February 5, 2020 - Clovis, California – The Sierra National Forest on behalf of the Dinkey Collaborative Landscape Restoration Project would like to invite the public to join the Dinkey Collaborative on February 20th in Fresno, California from 9:30am-5:30pm to attend their 2020 Science Symposium to learn about the latest land management science in the southern Sierra Nevada.

The Dinkey Collaborative is a group of participants from diverse backgrounds (federal, state, tribal, non-profit, private, industry) who make management recommendations for the Dinkey Landscape Restoration Project, a 154,000 acre area on the Sierra National Forest. The symposium will serve to review lessons learned through 10 years of collaboration, particularly in the context of the recent drought, and convey new science that will pave the way for future management.

Expect to hear:

• A discussion on our origin and lessons learned from a panel of non-profit, U.S. Forest Service, tribal and industry representatives

• The latest science on drought and tree mortality in Sierra Nevada forests from Dr. Chris Fettig and Dr. Marc Meyer

• What we have learned about how Pacific fisher and Yosemite toad respond to drought from Dr. Rebecca Green and Cathy Brown

• Conservation strategies and science synthesis on Pacific fisher and California spotted owl from Dr. Sarah Sawyer

• Lessons learned from the Kings River Experimental Watershed project from Dr. Ryan Bart and Dr. Andrea Creighton

• A facilitated discussion on prescribed fire and policy

The symposium will be held at the Woodward Park Regional Library, 944 East Perrin Avenue, Fresno, CA. Please RSVP to Juliana Birkhoff by Tuesday, February 18th, if you wish to attend, partake in the discussions, and enjoy some refreshments!
