Each month Mariposa County Fire will introduce you to one of its volunteer members.
Meet Nick Moschetti, a retired construction worker. Nick is a firefighter with Coulterville Station 26. He began his service in 1994, took a break in 2002 and returned in 2009. Nick shared that he joined the department in 1994 a week after he watched a structure burn to the ground.When asked what he would say to others about being a member he said, “I became a member so there would be more firefighters to protect the community.”
Nick also shared that one of the most important things he has learned during his career is that he takes pride in doing what he does. Add to that, there is a special camaraderie that you experience as a member of the department.
His final statement to us was, “A lot of people don’t even want to try, but if you don’t try you can lose out on a lot…if I can do it, anyone can do it.”
