March 12, 2020 - SACRAMENTO – Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) introduced Senate Bill 911 to designate September 11th each year as “September 11th Remembrance Day” and encourage each public elementary and secondary school to observe a moment of silence.
“My wife and I are the proud parents of two young boys and we teach them about our Greek-Armenian heritage. More so, we are also proud Americans and the tragic events on September 11, 2001 will be a day that I will never forget.
“The heinous actions of terrorists who committed the horrific crimes on American soil will be forever taught in our history books. Observing a moment of silence honors the hundreds of lost lives, their families, and first responders while teaching our students that America persevered and survived. These are important life-lessons that my sons and all of our students deserve to know, learn, and understand how America’s history has been shaped,” said Senator Borgeas.
