March 21, 2020 - There are currently no cases of COVID-19 and no persons are being monitored as returned travelers in Mariposa County. The Governor has issued a “Shelter in Place” order for the State of California, Mariposa County Residents are still allowed out for essential functions; Doctors Appointments, Grocery Shopping, Auto Shops etc. Specific guidance from the state will be coming soon. Please check our website for more information (see scan code below).

COUNTIES WITH COMMUNITY TRANSMISSION
The following counties in California have confirmed cases of Coronavirus acquired through community transmission and are not travel related and should be avoided if possible. Nevada, YOLO, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare, Kern, San Bernardino, Riverside, San Diego, Orange, City of Long Beach, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, Alameda, San Francisco, Marin, Contra Costa, Sonoma, Solano and Mendocino.

SYMPTOMS AND TESTING:
If you develop symptoms such as:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19
  • Have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19

Contact a health care provider. Call ahead so that appropriate precautions can be taken.

Older patients and individuals who have severe underlying medical conditions or those with immunocompromised should contact their healthcare provider early, even if their illness is mild.

If your doctor determines you need to be tested for COVID-19, in Mariposa County specimen collection (nasal swab) is done at John C. Fremont Healthcare District. Remain in your vehicle – you will be directed to a testing area. Depending on state wide demand, results can take up to 6 days.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS:

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay away from work, school or other people if you become sick with respiratory symptoms such as fever and cough.
  • Cover sneezes or coughs with a tissue, and then throw the tissue in the trash.
