WHAT is this about...
Grandparents and Kinship parents of Mariposa County gather monthly to support, learn, exchange ideas and resources from their own life experiences with childcare, guardianship and/or adoption.
This is an independent, confidential group that provides the opportunity to meet new friends and explore legal, health, educational, financial, mental health and behavioral life experiences.
Informative presentations periodically to address specific areas of need and concern.
CHILDCARE is provided for each meeting. If you need childcare please contact Mariposa County Safe Families at least 24 hours in advance, call (209) 966-2211.
GOALS of the Coffee...
- Discover you are not alone navigating your way through the medical, financial, educational, social, physical challenging world of raising children when your children are grown and gone.
- Learn about community services and resources available specifically to help you meet the challenges of raising multi-generational children.
- Listen and be supportive to others.
- Have a voice to express opinions amongst your peers and join the Group in working toward positive change and improvement for Grand Families and Kinship Caregivers.
- Guest speakers to support the Group with legal, county social services, education, childcare, health, mental health and recovery services, etc.
- 24/7 support when needed from the Group.
Where is the Meeting...
Grand and Kinship Family meets the 2nd Thursday of each month (September through May) at Mariposa Safe Families.
In-home visit can be arranged by calling Mariposa Safe Families.

Since the founding in 2008 the Mariposa County Grand and Kinship Families have commented:
- We have a place to go and talk to other grandparents in similar situations.
- A safe place to express our feelings, fears and sometimes having this overwhelming LOST feeling.
- It was a God-send for me when I came to know the folks in the group, have their support through the tough times and know they were a phone call away. I look forward to gathering each month and being able to share and socialize.
- The meeting is always a great opportunity to socialize and you always know help and support is there. You cannot separate the two.
- I appreciate that I can get information to help me with childcare, legal, financial, medial and education.
- For the past two years Grand Families has provided childcare that has given me the opportunity to visit with other grandparents and talk about the challenges I have faced adopting and raising my granddaughter.

225 Grandparent families and 671 Kinship families are raising children in Mariposa County.

· HOME VISITS available all year.
