March 28, 2020 - On Friday, Jeff Aranguena, Superintendent, Mariposa County Unified School District released the following statement

March 27, 2020
Jeff Aranguena mariposaDear Mariposa Family and Friends,

The temporary closure of Mariposa County Schools, continues in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID19. During these unprecedented times, I would like to thank all of you for continuing to work with our team and with each other as we navigate this uncharted territory together.

Right now, the key question on the minds of everyone is: When will schools reopen? We are all facing questions daily about how this prolonged closure will impact instruction and our students. While our team understands and shares these concerns, our top priority right now continues to the health and safety of our community as a whole.

Our team remains in close contact with our Mariposa County Health Officer, Dr. Eric Sergienko. Discussions have begun to develop criteria and guidance for reopening our schools at the appropriate time, under the appropriate conditions.

This continues to be a very fluid situation. With health and safety as our number one priority, our entire MCUSD team is working in a variety of ways to support our school community. From providing meals to our students to organizing distance learning opportunities for students and parents, our team is working hard to support our students.

As always, our team will continue to provide updated guidance from our local, state and federal officials over the coming weeks. We are all here to support our community both personally and professionally. Board members and I have truly appreciated the hard work our staff continues to do on a daily basis to support our school community. We will continue to navigate these uncertain times together as a Mariposa family.

Thank you!
