April 1, 2020 -  Jeff Aranguena, Superintendent, Mariposa County Unified School District reports at a Special Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 31, Jeff Aranguena mariposa2020 the Mariposa County Unified School District extended the cancelation of on campus classes and all school-related activities through May 1st. The regularly scheduled Spring Break from April 13th-17th will remain in place. Schools will prepare to reopen Monday, May 4th, unless conditions call for an extension.

The District released the following:

Dear Mariposa Friends and Family:

The school board members and I continue to fully appreciate the vital role our schools play in Mariposa County. We understand how difficult these times have been for students and families.

The last few weeks have left all of us with more questions than answers. Our school community continues to prioritize the health and safety of our staff and students, while adhering to social distancing guidelines that have been provided.

The President recently extended the social distancing guidelines until April 30th. With these new guidelines, the Board took action tonight to appropriately extend our current campus closure.

Mariposa County Unified School District will extend the cancelation of on campus classes and all school-related activities through May 1st. Our regularly scheduled Spring Break from April 13th-17th will remain in place. Schools will prepare to reopen Monday, May 4th, unless conditions call for an extension.

During this extension staff will continue to focus on providing Distance Learning opportunities for all students, and we will continue to collaborate with our State partners.

The Board and I are extremely proud of the dedication and resilience we have seen from our staff and students over the last few weeks. Our team continues to provide supportive and creative solutions to many of the barriers the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged us with. We truly appreciate your flexibility and patiences during this time.

As always, our Mariposa community finds ways to support each other and make us all extremely proud during these difficult times.

Thank you.
